A+Technical Description
The 2023 MAZAK VTC800 is a 3-axis traveling-column vertical machining center engineered for high-speed, high-accuracy machining of large aerospace and automotive structural components. The VTC-800 is available in multiple X-travel configurations, with the standard variant offering up to 78.7 inches of X travel and the extended version reaching 118 inches, both sharing a 31.5-inch Y-axis capacity and 28.3-inch Z-axis stroke. The 26 kW (approximately 35 HP) spindle motor drives an 18,000 RPM spindle through a CAT-40 / BT-40 interface, enabling high-speed aluminum roughing and precision finishing in a single setup. The 30-tool automatic tool changer handles diverse tooling requirements, with optional 48-position magazines available for extended unattended operation. A maximum table load of 5,511 pounds (2,500 kg) accommodates heavy structural workpieces, and rapid traverse rates of 1,969 IPM minimize non-cutting movements across the extended envelope. The partitioned table design allows simultaneous load-and-run operation, improving spindle utilization. Through-spindle coolant is standard, extending tool life during sustained high-feed milling operations. The Mazatrol CNC platform — Matrix on units built through 2017, and SmoothG or SmoothX on later builds — provides conversational programming, tool-life management, and network integration capability for connected manufacturing environments.
