A+Technical Description
The 2016 Mori Seiki MV80 is a 3-axis vertical machining center representing the largest model in the MV series, purpose-built for machining of very large structural components, heavy mold bases, and substantial industrial workpieces that exceed the capacity of standard mid-size VMCs. The machine is equipped with a CAT 50 spindle taper and a 30 HP spindle motor, delivering maximum spindle speed of 3,500 RPM—a deliberately conservative speed reflecting the low-speed, high-torque design philosophy appropriate for large-diameter tooling and aggressive material removal in steel, cast iron, and other heavy alloys. The worktable measures 98.4 by 32.0 inches, providing exceptional part accommodation for long or wide components. The work envelope spans 80 inches in X, 32 inches in Y, and 29.5 inches in Z. The Fanuc 15M CNC control provides reliable G-code programming, Custom Macro B support, and operator-friendly interface functionality. The automatic tool changer with 40 positions accommodates the extensive tooling arrays required for complex large-part programs. Machine weight is approximately 35,000 pounds, and the heavy cast iron construction contributes to the rigidity and vibration damping essential for stable cutting at this machine scale. Note: Mori Seiki merged with DMG to form DMG Mori around 2013; machines labeled MORI SEIKI are pre-rebranding era. The MV80 is well-suited for aerospace structural machining, heavy industrial fabrication, and large mold and die manufacturing where exceptional table length and Y-axis capacity are required.
