Technical Description

The 2018 Mori Seiki NMV3000DCG is a 5-axis vertical machining center combining Mori Seiki's DCG (Driven at Center of Gravity) dual-drive technology with full simultaneous 5-axis contouring capability for high-accuracy machining of complex aerospace, medical, and precision components. The DCG system positions linear drive axes at the workpiece's center of gravity, eliminating the torque-induced angular errors common in conventional single-drive designs and enabling superior surface finish and dimensional repeatability. The machine provides a work envelope of 19.7 inches in X, 15.7 inches in Y, and 15.7 inches in Z, with a rotary-tilt B/C table for unrestricted 5-axis access. A 30 HP spindle motor drives the CAT 40 taper spindle to a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM, providing both the high speed needed for aluminum finishing and the torque for steel roughing. The MAPPS IV CNC control delivers advanced 5-axis motion management, tool center point control, and conversational programming alongside standard G-code compatibility. Rapid traverse rates on the DCG axes are exceptionally high, reducing non-cutting time in complex programs. Machine weight is approximately 24,250 pounds, reflecting the substantial machine structure required to support DCG drives and 5-axis kinematics. Note: Mori Seiki merged with DMG to form DMG Mori around 2013; machines labeled MORI SEIKI are pre-rebranding era. The NMV3000DCG is suited to aerospace structural components, turbine blades, complex mold inserts, and precision 5-axis part families.
