A+Technical Description
The 2008 Mori Seiki NMV8000DCG/50 is a 5-axis vertical machining center representing the largest configuration in the NMV DCG series, combining full simultaneous 5-axis contouring capability with a CAT 50 spindle taper for heavy-duty, large-format machining. The '/50' designation identifies the BT50/CAT50 tool interface, which provides enhanced spindle rigidity and torque for machining titanium, Inconel, hardened steels, and other demanding materials with large-diameter tooling. The DCG (Driven at Center of Gravity) dual-drive technology drives each linear axis at the gravitational center of the moving element, eliminating torque-induced angular error and enabling superior surface finish at high feed rates. The machine provides exceptional capacity with 47.2 inches of X travel, 36.2 inches of Y, and 24.0 inches of Z, along with a rotary-tilt B/C table with a 31.5-inch diameter working surface capable of supporting workpieces up to 1,000 kg. The 30 kW (approximately 40 HP at 30-minute rating) spindle motor delivers maximum speed of 10,000 RPM. The MAPPS III CNC control (Fanuc F31iA5 base) provides 5-axis tool center point control, high-speed look-ahead, and advanced contouring capability. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 142 by 196.6 by 148.3 inches, and the machine weighs approximately 46,200 pounds. Note: Mori Seiki merged with DMG to form DMG Mori around 2013; machines labeled MORI SEIKI are pre-rebranding era.
