A+Technical Description
The 2003 Mori Seiki NV4000 is a 3-axis vertical machining center designed for high-speed, high-accuracy production machining of precision components in aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing applications. The NV series represents Mori Seiki's next-generation VMC platform following the MV series, incorporating improved structural design, enhanced thermal compensation, and higher-performance spindle systems. The NV4000 provides a work envelope of 40.2 inches in X, 20.1 inches in Y, and 20.1 inches in Z, with a worktable suited to medium-sized workpieces. A 30 HP spindle motor drives the CAT 40 taper spindle to a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM, supporting both aggressive roughing and fine finishing across a broad range of materials including steel, aluminum, and titanium. The MAPPS or Fanuc CNC control—depending on build configuration—delivers advanced look-ahead processing, high-speed contouring, and broad G-code compatibility. Linear guideway options on the NV series enable significantly higher rapid traverse rates than box-way predecessors, reducing cycle time in multi-tool programs. Machine weight is approximately 17,600 pounds. Note: Mori Seiki merged with DMG to form DMG Mori around 2013; machines labeled MORI SEIKI are pre-rebranding era. The NV4000 is well-suited for production cells, flexible manufacturing systems, and high-mix precision machining environments requiring reliable 3-axis VMC performance.
