A+Technical Description
The 2024 OKK VCX500 is a 5-axis vertical machining center with tilting rotary trunnion table manufactured by OKK (Osaka Kiko Co., Ltd. / Nidec OKK), a Japanese precision machine tool builder. The VCX500 is engineered for simultaneous five-axis contouring of medium to large complex workpieces, including structural aerospace components, precision mold cavities, and turbomachinery parts. The trunnion table accepts round pallets of 500 mm (19.69 inch) diameter supporting workloads up to 1,102 pounds, enabling five-axis access to larger and heavier components than the smaller VCX350. Linear axis travels of 27.6 inches in X, 33.5 inches in Y, and 24.0 inches in Z, combined with A-axis tilt of negative 120 to positive 30 degrees and continuous C-axis rotation, provide the kinematic range for complex five-axis surface machining. The standard 12,000 RPM spindle, rated at 25 HP continuous, drives No. 40 dual-contact tooling with the power and speed balance suited to five-axis titanium, steel, and aluminum applications. An optional 20,000 RPM spindle supports high-speed aluminum and non-ferrous five-axis work. Rapid traverse of 48 m/min in X and Y, and 32 m/min in Z, minimizes idle time. A 40-station automatic tool changer, expandable to 120 tools, supports complex five-axis programs. The Fanuc 31i-B5 CNC with tool center point control delivers accurate five-axis interpolation. Overall dimensions are approximately 146.5 by 96.5 by 137.8 inches and the machine weighs approximately 26,455 pounds.
