Technical Description

The 2020 Okuma MC40VA is a 3-axis vertical machining center from Okuma's MC-VA series, a mid-size platform designed for precision milling, drilling, tapping, and boring across a range of materials including steel, aluminum, and cast iron. The MC40VA is built on Okuma's proven rigid cast-iron construction with Thermo-Friendly Concept (TFC) thermal management, ensuring dimensional stability throughout extended production cycles without a lengthy warm-up period. The worktable measures approximately 39.37" x 16.14" (1,000 x 410 mm) with axis travels of approximately 30.09" in X, 16.14" in Y, and 17.72" in Z. Rapid traverse is 1,181 IPM (30 m/min) on all axes. The CAT40 taper spindle delivers approximately 7.5 HP continuous with a maximum speed of 6,000 RPM through a gear-head drive that provides high torque at lower speeds for ferrous material applications. A standard 20-tool arm-type ATC provides efficient tool changes. The Okuma OSP-P300M control provides conversational and G-code programming, canned cycles, rigid tapping, Collision Avoidance System (CAS), and Ethernet connectivity for DNC. Full enclosure, chip conveyor, and coolant system are standard. Machine dimensions are approximately 87" x 75" (L x W) with a height of 105" and a weight of approximately 17,900 lbs, reflecting the MC40VA's robust construction suited for reliable, long-term production service.
