Technical Description

The 2023 Tormach 770M is a 3-axis compact vertical machining center designed for light-duty machining, educational use, and hobbyist fabrication. Built by Tormach LLC of Waunakee, Wisconsin, the 770M is an updated version of the PCNC770 platform featuring a refined spindle drive system and updated machine base. The machine provides axis travels of 14.0" in X, 7.5" in Y, and 13.25" in Z, with a work table measuring 26" x 8". The spindle operates at up to 5,000 RPM with 1 HP continuous power and accepts R8 tooling. The PathPilot CNC control, Tormach's implementation of LinuxCNC, provides a touchscreen operator interface with G-code and conversational programming, tool path preview, and accessible setup workflows suited to less experienced operators. The machine occupies a footprint of 56" x 48.5" with an overall height of 88" and weighs approximately 950 lbs. As a compact, light-duty VMC, the 770M is suited to machining aluminum, plastics, brass, and mild steel for prototyping, short-run production, and educational environments. It is not intended for heavy industrial production use. A range of Tormach accessories is compatible including coolant systems, enclosures, and fourth-axis rotary table options.
