A+Technical Description
The 2009 YCM MV168A is a 3-axis large-format vertical machining center produced by Yeong Chin Machinery Industries of Taiwan, designed for the machining of oversized workpieces, dies, molds, and structural components that exceed the capacity of standard-size VMCs. The machine delivers X/Y/Z travels of 65 x 30 x 30 inches over a 66.9 x 29.9 inch working table, providing substantial capacity for large automotive, aerospace, and heavy industrial parts. The gear-driven CAT-40 spindle operates at up to 8,000 RPM with 20 HP of continuous power, delivering high-torque output for heavy cuts in steel and cast iron as well as adequate speed for aluminum contouring. At approximately 34,100 lbs machine weight and with overall dimensions of 171 x 143 x 122 inches, the MV168A is a substantial machine that requires dedicated structural flooring and overhead crane access for installation. A 24-station automatic tool changer enables multi-operation large-part programs. The Fanuc MXP control provides standard rigid tapping, helical interpolation, DNC, and operator-friendly G-code programming. The MV168A occupies the upper end of YCM’s MV series, catering to manufacturers who need a longer X-axis stroke than the MV106A can provide without stepping up to a full double-column machine. Its combination of large table, rigid construction, and Taiwanese build-quality pricing made it competitive in the large-frame VMC segment during the late 2000s.
